How one Thursday conversation turned into a job for Marcus.
Marcus first came to Thursday dinner the week after he lost his warehouse job. He sat at the end of a long table and didn't say much.
By his third Thursday he was helping carry pots. By his sixth, a volunteer who runs a delivery company had offered him an interview.
I came for soup. I left with a plan, and a lot of people who wanted me to make it.
Marcus now drives for that company, and he volunteers on Saturdays, running the loading dock he knows better than anyone.
